MIAMI, FL (National Presse) – Tropical Storm Debby is forecasted to be named as Hurricane Debby by Sunday evening due to the storm intensifying quickly. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) based out of Miami, FL is warning Florida resident to prepare.
While Debby won’t be as strong as Idalia was in 2023, it will take a similar path as Perry, FL was the landfall location. Meteorologists are tracking what will likely be the storm moving through northern Florida and southern Georgia, before stalling in the Atlantic.
Now, models have suggested the storm could either bounce back inland to Atlanta, or strengthen as it progresses north toward the Carolina’s and Virginia. The best-case scenario is for it die out in the Atlantic before moving inland to Atlanta.
If the storm continues north to Virginia, residents could see extreme amount of flooding as over 12″ of rain could fall within just a few days near the coast line.
