Grand Jury Indicts Luigi Mangione On First-Degree Murder Charge

NEW YORK, NY – A grand jury indicted Luigi Mangione on Tuesday for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Alvin Bragg, the district attorney for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated today in a press conference.

Currently, Mangione is being held in SCI Huntingdon in central Pennsylvania after being caught in an Altoona, Pa. McDonald’s along East Plank Road on December 9th. Detectives and the Deputy Commissioner of the New York Police Department (NYPD) drove lights and sirens from Manhattan to the small Pennsylvania town over 200-miles away to put eyes on Mangione.

Originally expected, Mangione was planning to contest the extradition efforts. But new information relayed to Bragg states that on Thursday at the upcoming extradition hearing, Mangione may be transferred much sooner. A Governor’s extradition warrant is expected to be issued soon.
